While gadgets are getting more mobile, I suggest every family have a Desktop PC. Desktop PC’s are budget friendly, have bigger screens then laptops and can do double duty as a “work at home” PC for work at home parents. Desktop PC’s also make it easier for mom and dad to keep an eye on what the kids are doing online – because if they are set up in the family room – they stay in the family room.

I recently had the chance to review the Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z All-in-one Desktop PC, which has become not only a valued family PC, but also a work PC for a “work at home mom” (i.e. ME!). I am happy to say that I also have the fun of announcing a giveaway of one Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z All-in-one PC to one lucky reader. Here are the details:

  3. I would use the A70z as a kitchen/light office computer. It’s a great size for a counter-top PC, perfect for paying the bills, taking down notes, or getting directions. Also, at 19-inches, the screen is a nice size to read recipes off of or watch cooking shows over the internet or using the built-in disc drive.

  4. If I won, this would be my kids’ computer. For homework, games, and to learn to store and manipulate the pictures they take. The small footprint means there would still be enough room on the desk for paper homework!

  8. My desktop died last night and I desperately need a replacement – I currently can’t work and I’m losing income :( The worst part is I haven’t had a job paying a decent income in 7 months, so I can’t afford a new computer. Vicious circle!

  10. I love that you can hang this on the wall! My decade-old PC is creeping not just toward obsolescense but oblivion. I still have a CRT, can you believe it?? So the ability to hang this on the wall over my desk would clear up some desk space I haven’t seen in over a decade! The extra work space plus the aesthetic alone would make me more productive.

  21. My wife and I would use this in the kitchen as a unit to check email and schedules (family and work) while helping get the kids (3 & 5) ready for school and while were cooking anytime. Having it in there permanently would keep us from lugging our home laptop with the dying battery out. Add in the ability to fire up Epicurious.com and the kitchen will be even more fun.

  23. I could really use a new pc. This one is seven years old and slowly failing. I am a student in college studying the IT field. It would be nice to have a pc that has hardware virtualization and more than one processor for the virtual computers that we have to run for our schoolwork. Currently I am unemployed with no unemployment compensation and going back to school to better myself so I can get a job. I could really use a break from life and winning this competition would really do that for me. Thanks.

  26. I am a university student of Civil Engineering and my laptop is struggling to run programs I need for my studies, not to mention the fact that it’s a few keys short of a qwerty. This would be a great computer for my small dorm-room desk!

  34. I’m typing this on a Lenovo laptop right now. In the last ten years I’ve gone through eight or so desktop and laptop computers. The Lenovo is, easily, the most reliable and trouble free computer I’ve ever owned. I’m a published poet and would like a new computer with more spreadsheet capability. I specifically need to continually update agent addresses and phone numbers, addresses and contact information for literary quarterlies, acceptance periods, due dates, sent dates, rejection letters, myriad contacts, and all the other minutia that comes along with trying to publish. I’m not a tech person but I need more memory. Plus the space-saving option of the A70 is very attractive. Hanging the computer on the wall is appealing in a perverse way.

  45. I would love to have a desktop that is media and space friendly. I only have a laptop (it’s a lenovo though) and it’s screen leaves something to be desired. I don’t have a lot of room and something like this would be an ideal solution.

  48. I would use this to replace my slow unproductive computer I have right now. I wouldn’t throw it out though I would donate it to my father since all he does it check emails and visit forums. He doesn’t need all the performance like I do. I’m into photography and video editing and this Lenovo Think Centre a70z would truly help make that possible. I need to get the creative side of me back. It would help me with my freelance photography work that I have been putting on hold due to my computer being outdated and not able to support specs of newer programs and much larger files due to High definition videos.

  57. If I was lucky enough to win this PC, it will be used for the business I am starting. I have a 25 year background in Sales and Marketing, dealing with a lot of Start Ups and Entrepreneurs. My business, HumanFerret, will help new, mid life, entrepreneurs get their businesses up and running fast.

  59. I’d use the A70z out in the kitchen for various tasks. Easy access to recipes, personal finances, keep track of my work/task management. It’s all very difficult to do that when you have a tower unit the size of the Empire State Building that has one and only one place in the house that it can go because of the size constraints.

    I work everywhere. It’s habitual: I look for ideas about film in peoples faces; I watch birds; I listen intently to how people chew; little idiosyncrasies that create characters are found everywhere. I study my craft and remind myself every day that I am not a writer but a storyteller so I had better learn all the skills it takes to tell the story. I’m trying to find money to start a business, much like everyone else, but even with an edge – I grew up with a business or two in the household an was hired by 2 corporations to represent business, pushing new ideas is not EZ. Wanted: a monitor for film that travels.

  64. I would love to win this desktop. It would be a great hub for my home network. I have three kids and our current computer is old. The motherboard and power supply died last year but I was able to install new ones but its doesn’t work as well (it always boots up saying no operating system so you have to press ctrl-alt-delete).
    Also I am working with a friend to start a community foundation and this machine would be a great help to see it come to fruition.

Having an extra Reliable computer would be amazing for the kids to be able to back their work up on. Or to use for homework and extra stuff. This would be amazing – we have one netbook at my house (for 2 computer loving nerds) and when I’m on call in the evenings (i work in health care) i often have to physically fight to use it to look up patient info!   78. I would use this to replace the 5 year old desktop PC we currently use. Our current desktop is very, very slow, so slow it is almost painful to use. My children insist it it too slow to use for their schoolwork, so they use our laptop, and I am stuck trying to update my blog and track our finances on our old, slow desktop.

  84. I’m soon moving to New York, to begin a PhD program in Biomedical Sciences. I’m also getting married, and that means two people in a small, small space (it’s going to be wonderful, but certainly cramped). Neither of us owns a desktop computer at the moment, instead we have rapidly aging laptops. With a solid, powerful, quiet desktop like this one, and two new iPads (on the wedding registry, fingers crossed) we’d be absolutely set to be connected at school, and have a powerful machine for more computer-intensive tasks (and Hulu watching, on that massive screen). This computer would make an already exciting couple of months exponentially more awesome!

  95. I would greatly benefit from this computer as an aspiring photographer, because my 10+ year old Dell Inspiron is really slow at starting Photoshop and other photo editing programs. I’d like to have a new computer because I’m in need for a new one that keeps my desk clutter free. As a photographer, there are many cables, hard drives, etc that are on my desk. One less monitor on my desk really saves room.

  99. I run a small business as an independent bookseller. This Lenovo looks perfect for my needs. I need to keep track of buyers, auctions, estate sales, travel arrangements, hotels, rental car agencies, sales, inventory, and the like.   103. My entry is at very basic, the plight of many moms. I have 6 kids, 12,11,10,8,6 and a new born. The oldest 5 all need computers for school work, never mind the desire to use it for pleasure. I have a 5 year old lap top for my use and a 7 year old almost dead Dell for the kids. More and more I have to give up the laptop to the kids. Computer knowledge is mandatory is today’s world. I am fearful that my kids lack of computer skills will penalize them later.

My current main computer is a netbook and while I do love it’s portability, it lacks a lot of power and really makes doing the things that I need it to do extremely time consuming when they shouldn’t be.   124. My husband and I are currently working on opening a care home for developmentally disabled adults. If I won this Lenovo A70z giveaway, I’d use this computer for our business as the space in the care home for our office is actually just a corner area in the living room. Of course we have to have a computer for the business as there are lots of notes, reports, care plans, objective data collection sheets and so forth that need to be produced. I definitely want to make the best most efficient use of this small office space and I certainly don’t want it to look cluttered. Therefore, I think that the Lenovo A70z would be the perfect computer for our particular business situation.

  130. I would use the Lenovo mostly for personal use (unless my husband commandeered it to use in the teaching of his math classes somehow). I have a vision of hanging it on the wall in my kitchen and using it for looking up recipes (my current method involves running to the computer room to check stuff and sometimes I risk getting sidetracked in the midst of meal preparation), watching or listening to downloads while doing tedious prep work, etc…I can think of a few other uses, but risk boring you to tears if I listed them all.

  148. It’s hard to explain why someone would want a free computer because everyone do wants one , rather it be new or old. Me in particular is in a desperate situation for a new computer because of educational situations. The reason why I’m in need of a computer at the moment is to deploy it for educational purposes. I need a computer to write out and type out all of my essays and documentations that I will be doing over the course of the next three years in college. I have made it through one year without a computer of my own in college. For the past year , I have been turning in late or incomplete reports to my professors because I don’t have a computer of my own at my disposal. For the paste year , I have been using the Public Library’s computers to type and print out all of my reports , essays , and documentations.
    With the Lenovo A63 computer system , I will probably be able to actually finish my reports on time and turn them in on time.As a Matter fact , I’m confident that if I win the Lenovo A63 Computer system , I’ll be able to search for a job online and make some money while attending college. With this in mind , I can guarantee that my friends won’t look at me as a “outcast” if I win the Computer system because I’ll have a computer , just like them. I know the possibilities of me winning the system are slim but I really do hope I do.

Unfortunately my current machine just can’t handle the programs that are essential to my success: Photoshop, Illustrator.     This would be an answer to so many issues in our home. Their our six of us and one computer. So that alone would be a huge help. Being able to help in HomeSchooling my children which they will begin, for the first time, in September would be awesome. I could start the Blog that I have been wanting to, but have been unable to because of my unreliable PC.
    We, also, live in a small 3 bdrm. city home and the space that this would save would help in my quest to become more organized.

  173. Winning this computer would be a godsend to me and my wife. She is going back to school and our current desktop is just too slow for her school work. With this new system, she can finally do her work at the comfort of the home rather than at the library where it is either too hot or too cold. As for me, I am learning how to be a graphic designer and this computer would greater aid me in that quest.

My current computer is an old Dell still running Windows XP & it has a DVD Rom problem where the drive wont open and it is slow as molasses, It’s our home internet wi-fi provider and we can’t setup a netwrok that can share printers because there’s something wrong with it, but we can share internet. This computer will solve all of our problems and headaches at my house.

  182. I would use it to replace my only PC at home. It’s at least 5-6 years old and can no longer handle all the current software and applications. So it’s defintely in need of an upgrade.

  184. I would use this computer everyday, I have a photography class at my high school so having this computer i can photoshop at home other than having limited time to photoshop at school.   187. Hi there. I really need this computer to help make my life as a college student easier. Right now I am using a desktop that I bought eight years ago because my newest one was stolen while I was walking back to my apartment one night. Unfortunately, I can afford a new one because money is very tight for me right now. So I have no choice but to use an old system that lags after one hour of use. This is driving me a bit crazy. To make sure that I don’t go crazy, I prefer to use the computer at the school library. That means a lot of the time, Ihave to stay overnight at the library to finish my projects. So as you can see, winning this computer would be a blessing to me.

  188. This would probably go to my 14-year-old to keep up with her homework. She’ll be in high school this fall. We currently have to share my laptop, which leads to disgruntled feelings on both sides.

For the past few months, I have been actively engaged in providing assistance to teachers at an elementary and a middle school (I have taken a year from school so that I can do things that I couldn’t possibly do while I am in school). I am able to go between these two schools because they are located very close to either other. As I was there to help them with school work, I also tried to create a fun environment for them to learn. So far, there are limits on what I can do because my laptop, though reliable, doesn’t have the power to do what I would it to it. So winning this computer would greatly further my efforts in education. I can share with your some of the things I wish to do with this new computer, which if I do win will mounted at the back of the classroom. First, as the students work on their assignments, I would be able to use the computer to play soothing classical music that I find to be quite helpful in absorbing materials. And every once in a while, I can play movies that I have downloaded to these kids by connecting the computer to the tv in the room.

I want this computer because me and my brother can use a computer like this, and this will be awesome if we put it in our room… the computer would be used to play some games and we can also watch youtube videos, basically this computer will mainly be used for entertainment… but when school starts it can be also used for essays and projects.   196. If I win I’d use this computer mainly for my business. I have a few software loaded onto my outdated computer. But it has caused my PC to freeze up and run extremely slow. Very frustating indeed :(
